Plymouth Police Senior Leader Empowerment Fund Given early successes and expanding levels of empowerment and opportunity for operational staff, it was soon realised that senior colleagues also need to be empowered and make decisions outside of their normal roles.

Although senior colleagues allocate and use very large resources, these are constrained by policy and operational factors. In the summer of 2008 there were both performance and cultural issues to be addressed; members of the Senior Management Team were invited to take on the Talents concept utilising £5,000 each from the BCU performance fund.

This resource was to be used to develop both BCU crime fighting performance and the overall work satisfaction of that entire BCU team. Operation Talents 3 will report back in December where a senior member of the Chief Officer Group will be invited to judge progress.

The projects are all aimed at bringing down crime by improving the morale, abilities and working environments of our staff.
